Weaving for alumni (Weaving 102) Cost: $175
How it works: Over the course of 3 weeks, students will plan, design, weave and finish a wall hanging (or scarf). This course is available to alumni of our previous weaving course at the studio or if you’ve received instruction elsewhere on how to use a rigid heddle loom.
You must own an Ashford rigid heddle loom. The Silk Weaving Studio will provide 50 grams of silk wool yarn; all other yarn may be purchased from the studio or brought with the student. The instructor will also provide some materials.
This course is meant to be open and relaxed, the instructor is there to help with techniques and preparing the loom but you will be planning and weaving your own ideas.
Here is what we’ll cover: class one: We will plan our projects. We’ll discuss what type of projects would be appropriate for your skill level. The instructor will bring some inspiration but please bring some inspiration of your own and some ideas and we’ll plan something great!
Class two: warp the looms if you didn’t get a chance to in the first class (which might be everyone). If you are all prepped, then start weaving. The instructor will review any techniques upon request.
Class three: continue weaving your projects or if you happen to be a keener and are all finished, then start a new one. The instructor will also review finishing techniques.
