I am enthralled by the process of weaving. For several years I studied at NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design) where I spent a large part of my studies focusing on textiles. During this time I fell in love with weaving and found myself consumed by it. For me, there is a wonderful sense of discovery in each step, from designing to dyeing to weaving.
Currently, I am intrigued by the relationships between colours. I work with natural dyes and find dyeing to be such an exciting part of the process. Seeing the shades and tones of the dyed colours are always a pleasant treat to me: I often find myself studying the colours around me, how they make me feel and how I see them interact in nature, as well as the subtle movements they make through different forms of light.
Being in the Silk Weaving Studio allows me to be around such an amazing array of colours and people. I find the studio to be an inspiring place as it is lively and filled with many creative voices, and enthusiastic hands. I encourage you to come by and visit this wonderful space.
